Lisa Ira is an Australian lawyer and policy consultant with over 12 years’ experience in law reform, public policy and international human rights. She offers consulting services to support NGOs, peak bodies, academic institutions and government bodies to develop rigorous, persuasive submissions and engage with law reform inquiries and United Nations processes.

Lisa brings deep expertise at the intersection of law, policy and human rights. She has a strong track record of effective written and verbal advocacy at the domestic and international level, including appearing as a witness at Parliamentary inquiries and speaking at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Qualifications

  • Master of Public and International Law, University of Melbourne

  • Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, Australian National University

  • Bachelor of Laws / Bachelor of Arts, Monash University

Experience

Lisa currently works as an Expert Advisor (International and Human Rights) at People with Disability Australia, leading the organisation’s international and human rights systemic advocacy.

She has also served as a member of the NSW Anti-Slavery Commissioner’s Advisory Panel and is currently a member of the Australian Disability Development Consortium Executive Committee.

Previously, Lisa has worked across academia, government agencies and the private sector, including the Commission for Children and Young People (Victoria), Accident Compensation Conciliation Service (Victoria), Australian Centre for Justice Innovation (Monash University) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
